Technical data

Invar is a nickel iron alloy used in applications where controlled expansion is required and in magnetic applications. The alloy is available in the following forms: Invar 36, Invar 42, Invar 48, Invar K and Invar 77.

Invar alloys are valued for their extremely low coefficient of thermal expansion, which gives them high dimensional stability. This makes Invar alloys ideal for manufacturing devices that require extreme degrees of precision.

Invar alloys are used in forms including seamless pipe, welded pipe, seamless tube, welded tube, bar, wire, sheet, plate, forgings, pipe fittings, and flanges.

Invar is used in the manufacture of highly precise devices, including laboratory instruments, clocks, seismic creep gauges, motor valves, and antimagnetic watches.

Machining Invar

Experience is a valuable asset when machining Invar.

It is important to control heat buildup during machining, which can lead to a warping of the material.

Hi-Tech Manufacturing has extended experience working with these materials, allowing us to support all machining needs.
